Colonoscopy and endoscopy in Springwood
Your first appointment is a consultation with Dr Goutham to review your symptoms, history and bowel-cancer risk. If a colonoscopy or gastroscopy is appropriate, it is performed under gentle sedation by Dr Goutham himself — never delegated.
For self-funded patients, Springwood Day Surgery is a fixed-price site: the published price covers the facility, specialist and anaesthetist in a single, transparent fee. Eligible insured patients can access Dr Goutham’s no-gap surgical fee, with any hospital excess or separate anaesthetist arrangements explained before booking.
Endoscopy on the Southside of Brisbane
As a FRACS-qualified gastrointestinal surgeon and GESA-accredited endoscopist, Dr Goutham performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy for appropriate adult patients. Gastroscopy examines the oesophagus, stomach and first part of the small bowel; colonoscopy examines the large bowel and allows polyps to be removed when appropriate.
The right investigation depends on your history, symptoms and referral. A consultation is used to decide whether endoscopy is appropriate and which procedure is most useful. Patients can also read about bowel cancer screening and follow-up colonoscopy.
One specialist, every step
From your first consultation through your procedure to your follow-up, you see the same specialist — an Australian-trained general and endoscopic surgeon with GESA accreditation in both gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Your procedure day at Springwood
Springwood procedures are done at Springwood Day Surgery, a dedicated day-surgery centre just off the Pacific Motorway with on-site parking — convenient for Logan patients and anyone travelling from Brisbane’s Southside.
This is one of our fixed-price package sites. Uninsured patients can take an all-inclusive package covering the facility, anaesthetist and Dr Goutham’s fee, quoted in full before the day so there are no surprises. Eligible insured patients can access Dr Goutham’s no-gap surgical fee.
On the day you’ll arrive for admission and meet the anaesthetist before your procedure. Dr Goutham performs the colonoscopy or gastroscopy himself under sedation, then explains the findings in recovery once you’re comfortable. Your GP receives a written report, and any biopsy results are discussed at follow-up.
Sedation rules out driving. You’ll need someone to take you home and stay with you overnight, and you shouldn’t drive, work or sign legal documents for 24 hours afterwards.
