NOW AT MIAMI PRIVATE HOSPITAL · GOLD COAST

Miami Private Hospital

Miami Private Hospital is at 24 Hillcrest Parade, Miami QLD 4220. It is a Queensland Health-licensed private hospital with three operating theatres and overnight accommodation, and it is where Dr Goutham performs Gold Coast colonoscopy, polyp removal and gastroscopy.

Miami Private Hospital and Colonoscopy Brisbane are separate organisations. Colonoscopy Brisbane handles your referral, booking, fees, preparation instructions and results. The hospital handles your admission, nursing care and discharge on the day.

Miami Private Hospital hosts a number of specialists. Your procedure is performed personally by Dr Goutham, never delegated.

Before your admission

Your bowel preparation, fasting and medicine instructions are written for your procedure and health history. They may include specific advice about blood thinners, diabetes treatment or weight-management injections.

Do not stop or change a prescribed medicine unless the instructions or Dr Goutham’s team tell you to. If anything is missing, unclear or conflicts with other medical advice, call Colonoscopy Brisbane before you start the preparation.

For background, read how bowel preparation works and our preparation support page. Your own instructions take priority.

Check these details before procedure day

Your admission letter and the hospital’s directions give you each answer. If they do not, call the number above.

Arrival

Time and entrance

Check your arrival time, which entrance to use and where to report. Allow extra time if you do not know the area.

Transport

Parking and drop-off

Use the directions supplied with your admission. The hospital can advise on parking and drop-off when you call.

Accessibility

Support you need

Tell the hospital in advance about mobility, communication or interpreter needs so they can be arranged.

Discharge

Adult escort

An adult must collect you after sedation. Confirm who that is and whether someone needs to stay with you overnight.

What to bring

Your Medicare card, health-fund card, photo identification, your referral if you have not sent it, and an up-to-date medicines list.

If your health changes

Tell us if you become unwell, start a new medicine, may be pregnant or have another change that could affect preparation, sedation or the procedure.

Allow enough time

Admission and discharge times can move when another patient needs extra care. Keep the time advised by the hospital free and make sure your escort can do the same.

Going home safely

Sedation can affect judgement, coordination and memory for the rest of the day. Follow the written restrictions on driving, work, alcohol, supervision and important decisions.

Dr Goutham discusses the initial findings with you after the procedure and your GP receives the report the same day. If tissue or polyps go to pathology, we contact you and your GP once the result is back and confirm any surveillance plan.

Severe or worsening pain, heavy bleeding, fainting, breathing difficulty, chest pain or a marked deterioration after you leave needs urgent medical assessment. Call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

Read the post-procedure information for what is normal in the first days.
