The short answer
What you pay depends on whether you have private hospital cover and which procedure your GP has referred you for. Gold Coast fees are identical to our Brisbane fees.
Privately insured
$0No-gap for Dr Goutham’s specialist fee for colonoscopy, gastroscopy or both. You receive no bill from your surgeon. A hospital excess and a small anaesthetist fee may apply.
Self-funded
from $1,650Fixed, all-inclusive price covering the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetist at Miami Private Hospital. Colonoscopy $1,650, gastroscopy $1,350, both together $1,950.
Public system
FreeNo cost, but non-urgent waits are commonly months long. Your GP can advise whether the public pathway suits your situation.
Self-funded fixed prices
For patients without private health insurance, the price below is the total for the procedure: the hospital facility fee, the specialist fee and the anaesthetist fee. It assumes you hold a valid Medicare card. A separate pre-procedure consultation applies and attracts a Medicare rebate.

Our team confirms your eligibility and suitability before booking so the procedure is performed safely in the right setting. If polyps are removed, the fixed price does not change, but the pathology laboratory may bill separately (most bulk-bill through Medicare).
What insured patients may still pay separately
Even when the surgeon’s fee is no-gap, a private colonoscopy account usually has three or four parts. Knowing each one means no surprises.
Excess
Typically $250 to $750 depending on your policy. Your fund quotes this; some policies waive it for day procedures.
Sedation fee
Usually no-gap with most funds. Where a gap applies it is typically $100 to $300, invoiced separately by the anaesthetist.
Biopsies and polyps
If tissue is sent for analysis, the laboratory bills separately. Most pathology providers accept the Medicare rebate as full payment.
If one is needed
A pre-procedure consultation attracts a Medicare rebate. Follow-up consultations with Dr Goutham are $0.
Health funds we work with as a no-gap provider
Colonoscopy Brisbane is a no-gap provider with most major Australian health funds, including Bupa, Medibank, HCF, nib, AHM, Australian Unity, GMHBA, HBF, Defence Health, Teachers Health, CBHS and Westfund. We accept what your fund pays for the surgical fee as full payment.
Before you book, ask your fund three things: whether your policy covers a day admission at Miami Private Hospital, whether any waiting period applies, and what your excess or co-payment is. Record the reference number. See no-gap details by fund.

Is colonoscopy bulk billed on the Gold Coast?
Private colonoscopy is not bulk billed. For insured patients the surgeon’s fee is no-gap, and for self-funded patients the price is fixed and all-inclusive. The public system is free but has longer waits for non-urgent cases.
Does no-gap always mean no out-of-pocket cost?
No. No-gap applies to Dr Goutham’s surgical fee. A hospital excess, an anaesthetist gap or a pathology charge can still apply. We set each component out in your written estimate.
Can I know the exact total before the procedure?
Yes for self-funded patients: the fixed price is the total for the procedure. For insured patients we confirm the surgeon’s fee, your fund’s position and the hospital excess in writing. The anaesthetist and pathology provider issue their own estimates.
What if the fixed price is not right for me?
Some medical conditions need an overnight or higher-acuity setting, which changes the venue and price. We check this before booking and tell you in writing. Your GP can also discuss the public-hospital pathway.
