Booking a colonoscopy in Brisbane is straightforward. The usual path is a GP referral → a short consultation with Dr Goutham Sivasuthan, Minimally Invasive and Endoscopic Surgeon → your procedure at a day hospital near you. You can also enquire directly. A referral lets Medicare rebate your consultation, and care is no-gap for insured patients with fixed pricing for everyone else.

Booking with or without a GP referral
With a GP referral (the usual path)
Most patients come via their GP. A current referral means Medicare rebates your specialist consultation, lowering your out-of-pocket cost. Your GP can fax or send the referral to us, or you can upload it when you enquire.
Without a referral
You can still enquire and book directly — we will explain your options. Be aware that without a valid referral, Medicare will not rebate the consultation. For screening or ongoing symptoms we will usually arrange a brief consultation first to make sure a colonoscopy is the right test.
What you will need
To make booking smooth, have these ready: your GP referral (if you have one), your Medicare card, a list of your medications (especially blood thinners and diabetes medicines), and a support person to drive you home after sedation. How soon will I be seen?
Private booking avoids the long public-system wait (often 3–12 months for non-urgent cases). Most patients are seen for a consultation within a couple of weeks, with the procedure booked shortly after at one of our four locations across Brisbane, Redland and Logan.
